I believe that every child deserves to be loved and cared for. In Haiti, there are often many children who are overlooked for one reason or another. Since September 2000 Sam and I decided to open our home to children who needed extra special care. It's not necessarily something that we love doing but we see such a huge need and feel like we can make a different by opening our home. In the beginning the first three children were from Notre Maison. That is a home for handicapped children that is run by Ruth Zimmerman. It is the same orphanage where I met Sam. Ruth has over 40 kids in her care and there just isn't enough of her to go around. At first we took in younger kids who definitely took more time, expense, food, diapers, Dr bills and baby-sitters.
